What did we just watch?
Georgia gets by - Not sure what to make of this game. In the end, Georgia slogged its way to a 13-12 road victory over a tough Kentucky team.
One thing I do know: Kentucky punting in plus territory late in the game was a criminal offense and head coach Mark Stoop should be punished. What a bad decision.
LSU gets the last laugh - We were *this* close to getting another Brian Kelly slamming table.gif after losing to a team with the initials USC. Alas, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the Tigers pulled out the 36-33 victory after a steadfast second-half performance.
This game changed drastically when South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers (who killed LSU in the first half) went down with a tweaked ankle. His injury limited the Gamecocks’ offense and left the door open for the Tigers.
I’m wildly high on Nussmeier but I’m out on Brian Kelly. Let’s see where this goes.
Coming up Memphis - Entering the season, I thought Memphis > FSU was an almost too trendy level of upset pick. But here we are.
FSU struggled offensively for the third week in a row and the Tigers upset the Seminoles 20-12.
We’ve reached the point of no return for DJ U, I’m afraid. At this point, I wonder how fair the Mike Norvell complaints are, too.
Mizzou comes good - It took a while, but No. 6 Mizzou came good down the stretch to defeat No. 24 Boston College 27-21.
Entering the game, Missouri struggled to score on explosive plays and that was a bit of a trend throughout the game. Luckily for the Tiger faithful, quarterback Brady Cook did what any good signal-caller does and got the ball to his playmakers.
Time and time again, wide receivers Theo Weise and Luther Burden III made big catch after big catch.
Don’t let the media fool you, this is a good win for Missouri in its first test of the season.
Backyard Brawlin’ - Look, Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein looks like he gets dooooown. I’ll leave it at that.
This game was absolutely batshit. Both teams traded haymakers but it was the Panthers who landed the final, most lethal blow with a last-second rushing touchdown. Shoutout to the Nard-dog for the big win. Superweapon Pitt is looking up, baby!
Roll damn Tide - Alabama made mince meat out of Wisconsin, routing the Badgers 42-10 in Camp Randall. This game had mismatch written all over it and that wasn’t helped when Badgers’ quarterback Tyler Van Dyke went out with an injury on the first drive of the game.
Alabama dominated from start to finish, with quarterback Jalen Milroe leading the way. Not much else to see here.
WAZZZZZZU - Sometimes, the football gods will deliver a moment of justice and that was the case in the 2024 rendition of the 2024 Apple Cup.
A year after being left for dead in the college football wilderness by its in-state counterpart, Washington State stuffed rival Washington on a goalline speed option to secure a thrilling 24-19 in Seattle.
From the staff to the players, the Cougar faithful were emotional, and rightfully so. God bless Washington State. And God bless the memory of Mike Leach.
Ducks down Beavs - The Civil War is almost always a bloody mess, but today it was all Ducks all the time.
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel finished with 291 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Ducks to a big 49-14 game.
This felt like a get-right game for Oregon. I’m curious to see if it lasts.
Killer K-State - Friday night, the Kansas State defense put on a damn show en route to a dominant 31-7 victory over Arizona.
Entering the game, all eyes were on Arizona’s offense, but it was the Kansas State defense that should make headlines. The unit did a great job of disguising pressures and limiting the damage from McMillan in the passing game.
Quarterback Avery Johnson also did a great job, using his legs to create space and add a different element to the run game. Keep an eye on K-State moving forward. The Wildcats are my pick to win the Big 12.
Colorado cruises - Nobody talks more shit and does not back it up than Colorado State.
Entering the week, the Rams talked a ton of noise, and yet CSU got dogwalked 28-9 by in-state rivals (and equal jokers) Colorado. Have some shame, Jay Norvell.
Runnin’ Rebs - I lost a few brain cells watching the end of UNLV-Kansas. That’s about all I have to say about that. There was a hilarious fumble and about 87 quarterback run plays that led to UNLV stealing a win in a soccer stadium. Friday night football, am I right?
Florida stinks - Look, not if, ands or buts about it, Florida stinks. Not much left to say.
This team has a brutal schedule and no hope ahead. Except the Gators play Miss State next week, which means it might get a win. Speaking of dog shit…
Delete Mississippi State - Control + Alt + Delete the Mississippi State football program after that embarrassing showing against Toledo. Head coach Jeff Lebby should be embarrassed. No further questions at this time.
Notre Dame responds - Hey, good for you, Notre Dame! You kicked a terrible Purdue team’s ass. Good response. Not sure it means anything beyond that, but good for you.
Pass me a Cignetti - Hey buddy, Indiana football might be good again. Please be advised.
The Hoosiers dismantled UCLA on the road 42-13. Here come the Hoosiers!
